I have contemplated the concept of health for some time.
Health is a state of functioning being, currently measured by “vital” indicators which help experts infer non-illness or normalcy with regard to known statistical future outcomes of population characteristics such as lifespan or risk of developing illnesses, in a comparative manner where measured values have their own established range classifications. It defines a “healthy” state through non-illness, high probability of long lifespan, low risk of future illness in physical and mental aspects. By this, health is then defined as the exclusion of illness and death. However, this model of health does not differentiate between two individuals, one who is often down with flu, versus the other who is seldom affected by it. “Stasis” of health in a simple ill state such as flu, cold or rash is not good because the condition does not improve, whereas “Stasis” of health in a vibrant energetic state gives empowering stamina to excel in life activities.
What if “healthy” is defined as the optimum/balanced/most efficient organization of body function that is regenerative, and combative of illnesses, provides vigour and energetic capacities that grow and advance with time(not age). This state is akin to unimpeded growth in a sustainable and beneficial manner in all respects of functional attributes of our body parts and processes – such as bones becoming stronger over time, body composition, balance, mental acuity, body and mind awareness, experiential control and selective manipulation of our body, develop over time, if a person so wishes to. In this state, age loses its meaning because each state is different, and one may not predict or foresee how one would lose its state of “healthiness”, especially when one experientially feels growth and progression as a being, in the absolute virtues of strength, flexibility, adaptability and immunity. Age and its significance as a measure against past population lifespan statistics mean nothing when one exists out of the normal environment and lifestyle. Rather, Age then defines experience, and experiences determines maturity, maturity determines wisdom, and wisdom opens the doorway to new life knowledge and experiences in a repeating cycle.
To have this “state of healthiness”, one needs to discover and formalize understanding of “healthy” states from an internal experience, as this approach gives access to millions of sensing agents in our body to understand its current state. Such formalization if discovered and taught, can help individuals learn and actively check their “state” and apply methodologies to “transmute” the state, relieve it, or adapt to it.
However, training others to feel themselves is a subjective matter. It requires well guided techniques and descriptions, that could be combined with external sensing technologies which measure non-apparent information that correlates with a particular state. Modern examples are the heart rate variability (HRV) monitor and skin bioelectricity measurements. Many more methods could be explored, but it requires sound basis on the systemic understanding of the body, and how well a particular measured parameter abstracts the “state” of being.
It all starts with internal knowledge about body function.
The path to sensing all these must come from abstractive intuitive hypotheses, and validated by nervous-sensory abilities.
